He was born in the town of Tyumen in Belarus and his family immigrated to the United States in 1893. In the fine arts, famous Belarusians have also made significant contributions. Perhaps the most recognized science fiction writer of all time is Isaac Asimov. Born in Petrovichi, this Belarusian penned many stories and novels that dealt with complex themes about humans and technology. Many of the concepts that appear in stories by Isaac Asimov have made their way into popular culture, such as the three laws of robotics. Painting has also seen at least one major talent that came from Belarus. Born Moishe Shagal, the world knew the Belarusian artist as Marc Chagall. Starting to come into popularity during the modernist period, Marc Chagall was also involved in a wide variety or other fine arts, including stained glass, ceramics, and tapestries.

This tennis star has earned three Grand Slam titles and has been ranked as the number one player several times in her career.
